THE TUROPOLJE DANCES

Choreography: Mojmir Golemac
Music: Dražen Kurilovčan

Throughout history, the people of Turopolje owned their own land; they were not serfs, so this area was called a noble municipality. The fact that the people of Turopolje were once of noble descent is reflected especially in the men's national costume. The Turopolje dances begin with a song in which women invite men to dance, and continue with dancing in pairs, shaking the dancers' bodies to the rhythm of the background music, fast spins and snake-like movement in a circle.
