THE KONAVLE WEDDING DANCES

Choreography: Mario Kristić
Music: Enes Omerčahić

The Konavle set of dances that are danced southeast of Dubrovnik consists of a merry wheel dance in which the dancers snap their fingers and dancing in pairs where the dancers wink at each other while performing dance movements. The potkolo, the oldest dance in the Dubrovnik area, is also performed. The dancers pass under the bridge shaped by their hands, and it is mostly associated with wedding customs. Elegant women's costume with silk embroidery on the chest is highlighted in this simple dance. The art of creating this embroidery has been added by UNESCO to the List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
